About Us
Our involvement with Old English Sheepdogs commenced in 1974, when we purchased our first OES Ch. Henley Lady Juliette (Muskey), who went on to be a record holder of the Breed. Muskey at 6 years of age was the top winning OES ever in Victoria, and was the FIRST OES in Victoria to gain over 1000 challenge points. All at a time when the number of OES being shown were at their peak.
A constant winner in the showring having won 13 BIS/RUBIS ALL BREEDS, twice RUBIS at OES Specialities, numerous Royal Show Challenges including four Royal Melbourne Challenges in a row from 1978 to 1981, and winning many other awards along the way.
Breeding under the "KEYSUM" prefix we have produced a number of champions who were multiple in group and in show winners in both All Breeds and Specialty shows. Like Ch Keysum Juliettes Pride (Pride) 2 BIS All Breeds and Ch Keysum Brianys Image (Boz) RUBIS OESCV Speciality in 1984.
In 1987 we acquired Aust.Ch.Pelajilo Hooray Hamish (Imp. U.K.) (Hamish) who was also an in group/show winner who sired 4 Australian Champions. One of his sons Ch Gateview Hooray Atlast (Bronson) whose show career was cut short due to illness went on to be a multi BIS in show winner. In 1997 we purchased Gr Ch.Gateview Just Fur Fun (Tayla) who went on to be one of the most successful OES in the show ring in Australia. Tayla, a Grand Champion, went on to become Number Two Top Dog All Breeds in Australia in 2002. Some of his wins included 17 BIS/RUBIS at All Breeds Championship Shows, four times Best Exhibit In Show at OES Specialty Championship Shows and three times Runner Up to Best Exhibit at OES Speciality Championship Shows.
We are currently showing Gr Ch Gateview Tayla Made (Connor) a son of Gr Ch Gateview Just Fur Fun (Tayla) who is another very successful show dog. To date he has achieved 27 BIS/RUBIS at All Breeds Championship Shows and went Best Exhibit In Show at the 2007 OES Specialties in Victoria and South Australia and then Runner Up to Best In Show at the OES Specialty in Victoria in 2008.
Our highlight of our show career was reached when Connor was awarded Best In Show 2nd at the 2008 Royal Adelaide Show.
Another facet of our involvement with the Breed has been in the administrative area. Wayne is currently President and Life Member, and former Treasurer and Vice President of the O.E.S.C.V. (Inc.), having served in some capacity on the Executive for over 27 years, and Gwen is a former Assistant Secretary and Committee member. In 2006 Wayne was appointed to the Board of Management of Dogs Victoria.
In September 1995 Wayne qualified to judge Old English Sheepdogs at Championship Show level and in 2002 qualified to judge the full Working Dog Group.
In October 1998 Wayne judged his first OES Speciality Show at The Northern Old English Sheepdog Club of New Zealand and has since judged OES Specialty Shows in Tasmania and Western Australia.
In 2006 Gwen gained her licence to judge the full Working Dog Group at Championship Show level and recently judged the OES Speciality in New South Wales.
Both Wayne and Gwen regularly judge the full Working Dog Group at Championship Show level having judged in all states of Australia.
